Antenatal clinic

Wednesdays, 1.00pm to 4.00pm

If you suspect that you are pregnant then please hand in an early morning urine sample as soon as possible.

Once you have contacted the practice and the pregnancy has been confirmed, you will then be offered an appointment with a GP so they can refer you to our midwife.

Postnatal clinic

Thursdays, 12.45pm to 1.15pm

Postnatal check-ups are normally done at eight weeks by Dr Scott on Thursday afternoons.

This will be done at the same time as your baby has their eight week check.

Child health surveillance clinic

Thursdays, 12.45pm to 1.15pm

This clinic with Dr Hattaway is to check the health of your baby at eight weeks. Mums have normally just been seen in the postnatal clinic.

Baby clinic

Thursdays, 1.30pm to 2.30pm

This is a two function session. Parents may bring their children in for weighing and advice from our health visitor (walk-in service) AND for childhood vaccinations (appt needed). Please ask at reception or call to make an appointment for vaccinations.

Asthma & respiratory clinic

Normal surgery hours

Those with asthma, or other respiratory diseases, should make an appointment once a year to see our practice nurse for an annual review.
It's possible that we may be able to offer you further relief from your symptoms.

Diabetes

Tuesdays, 2pm to 3pm

We offer a specialist diabetes clinic, run by our practice nurse, where you can discuss in detail the management and control of your condition.

Heart disease clinic

Normal surgery hours

People aged between 35 and 75 who are at high risk of a vascular disease (angina, heart attacks, strokes or related illnesses) are invited once a year to see the practice nurse for a basic examination, tests and advice on reducing their risks.

Family planning

Normal surgery hours

All aspects of family planning, contraception and pre-conception can be discussed with either one of our doctors or our practice nurse.

Different methods of contraception can be discussed in detail and arranged for you.

Those women prescribed the contraceptive pill will be asked to attend a medical examination every six months with the practice nurse.

Emergency contraceptive (the morning after pill) can be prescribed by either a doctor or the nurse practitioner. This is only effective if taken within 72 hours. It is also available over the counter at a chemist, providing you are over 16 years of age.

INR clinic

Normal surgery hours

Those patients using warfarin may be asked to attend this clinic for blood tests. It is run at the surgery by staff from Newcastle General Hospital.

Counsellor

Monday to Thursday 1pm to 4pm

Our practice has the services of a registered counsellor who can help with problems such as stress, bereavement etc.
